Right next to the alternator you can see the battery that came with the car, which I put there because it's a convenient place for it. I was going to rig up a super-cool dual battery system with a big relay to connect and disconnect the second battery based on whether the car is on or off, but I think I'll save that for the Quantum. It's certainly not necessary but just ensures that I'll always have at least one fresh battery.
